Open Letter to Chris Oliver

I am writing to you as an individual and as a friend.  I am not writing on behalf of the Houston Community College (HCC) board.

The “Pay to Play” culture in Houston, Texas makes it easy for one to become ensnarled in the trap laid by “the Sadducees and Pharisees”.  By your own guilty plea, you have admitted that you have lost your ethical compass and you are traveling down a road not meant for you, or taught to you by your parents or your church.

Regretfully, your actions have violated the trust of your constituents in District IX and has caused a loss of trust at HCC.  None of us own our seat on the HCC Board.  We are but representatives.  The citizens own the seat.

As an imperfect Christian I have asked God many times to forgive me for the sins I have committed.  “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9.

I know you will do the right thing.

Your resignation would be an honorable last duty to the citizens of District IX.

God bless you and your family.

Dave Wilson
